INDECENT

INDECENT

A collection celebrating the queer identity in all its forms. Four looks juxtaposing innocence and repressed creativity with self-expression and exploration. Two looks are all white, textured with lace and gathers. The other two mix red and black with plaids, leather, and metal accents. “Indecent” is a nod to the queer community for their resilience, creativity, and authenticity.

Indecent debuted at PULSE in April 2024, a fashion showcase put on by student-run fashion magazine, The Issue.

The Punk: the top is created from a bold snakeskin faux leather with a mesh back and two functional zippers at the shoulder seam. The lace up pants are made from jeans flipped on their head, with the original waist placed at the heel and vice versa. Original tags and pockets were preserved to celebrate the fabrics’ history. All materials are secondhand.

The Romper: paired with a gathered collar inspired by Elizabethan ruffs, the romper features princess seams that end in lace trims and black cord lacing. The body are revealing stretch knits, while the bust is a satin.

Hot 100: made in response to a class assignment in Apparel Design, this skirt is inspired by band Wolf Alice’s song “Play the Greatest Hits.” Paying tribute to punk DIY culture, materials are completely secondhand from the plaid to the upcycled waistband and original jean tag.

The Sopht Set: Inspired by the frills of Japanese Lolita fashion, this set uses Mary’s Bloomers from Confessions and the Sophia Top. This top features a gathered front yoke with three different lace trims, and a puff sleeve to echo that texture and volume.
